  1. I am wanting to make something similar to this with stain/whitewashed stripes, which I am assuming is what you did. How did you get your stripes so perfect? It seems to me like stain would run under tape.

  2. Hi Hallie! So, I did use tape, and I actually did did the paint stripes first. Then I removed the tape, and did the stain on the wood AND over my stripes. I wanted them to be aged in the same hue as the brown stain stripes. I have a full tutorial on this table, if you'd like to read it:

    hope this helps!

    1. Yes!!! Thank you so much. I looked for a tutorial, I guess just not hard enough. So the stain just wipes right off the paint, huh? I am so excited to try!!

  3. So I have this round drop leaf breakfast table in which I have been scouring the internet for the inspiration for its transformation, and Oh my oh my is this it!!! I'm obsessed with the renewal of older and somewhat forgotten things, with a splash of turquoise chalk paint here and there. :) Thanks so much for the inspiration. Your blog and your work is amazing!

Also, this was during my pre chalk paint days, if I did this table again those legs would Definitely be chalk paint! I have been using this DIY chalk paint recipe:

  4. So excited, I found your tutorial a few weeks ago. I tried it today on an old table of mine. Sanded it down and ended up using just a black stain with a satin finish on top. I also aged it by banging it up some too! A little different but you were my inspiration! Just a girl with some power tools:)
